About Me

Graduating in 1979 with a bachelor degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Oklahoma, I was ready to work with people; help them walk, play a sport,  sleep better or alleviate their pain.  I had reached my goal of becoming a physical therapist and I felt I could tackle any physical issue a patient had and I would make them all better.  Ha!  Was I ever naive!

After 35 years of working in the field of physical therapy, I am still learning and growing as a therapist and a person.  Over the years of my career I have worked in large hospitals in the inner city and small clinics in both the inner city and in a small suburb.  The individuals I  treated were rich, poor, black, white, old,  young, nice,  grumpy, well-groomed,  dirty, smart and dumb. I would say I have "seen it all", but I know that is not true.  .

Now, when I walk through stores or go to events in my town, individuals will come to me and talk to me like we are best friends.  I treated them a year ago, or 5 years ago or even 10 years ago and they still remember me fondly or maybe not so fondly.  I am usually glad to see most of them, but I must admit occasionally I will hide in the kosher aisle at the grocery store to avoid someone.

I have been married for 35 years to the same wonderful, loving and understanding man.  We have 3 grown children, who are all independent, successful, happy and funloving individuals.  My personal life may not be perfect, but I would say it is darn close.

Through this blog you will see what I have seen.  If the story sounds familiar and you were a patient of mine, it could be your story.  Please be flattered, you left an impression on my life and my heart and I thank you.

Every individual who walks  this earth is unique and special. As a physical therapist, I need to remain open-minded and accepting because......
you never know who might walk through that door.
